The National Testing Agency released the NIFTEE 2026 Information on 2 December 2025 announcing the opening of applications for admission to NIFT’s undergraduate- graduate and doctoral programs. For the regular fee- online registration will be available from December 8th 2025 to January 6th 2026. The NIFTEE 2026 exam wil be on February 8th 2026 and will take place in 100 cities across the country. It consists of the General Ability Test for all candidates as well as the Creative Ability Test and Situation or Studio Tests. Important Dates:

Application Fee:

  • Open- EWS- OBC: ₹2,000 for one program and ₹3,000 for two programs.
  • SC- ST- PwD: ₹500 for one program and ₹750 for two programs.
  • NRI- Foreign- OCI- PIO- SAARC candidates: ₹11,100 for one program only.

Eligibility Criteria:

The NIFTEE has released the eligibility criteria for the candidates which is as follows:

  • B.Des: It includes Completion of 10+2 in any stream or a 3–4 year diploma with a maximum age under 24 years as of 1 August- with a 5-year relaxation for SC- ST- PwD candidates.
  • B.F.Tech: It includes 10th class- PASSED with Mathematics or relevent qualification.
  • M.Des- M.F.M- M.F.Tech- PhD: It includes particular undergraduate or postgraduate degrees according to program requirements.
  • Artisan- NLEA- NRI- PhD: Separate eligibility criteria and tests apply.

Exam Pattern:

NIFTEE 2026 assesses both aptitude and creative skills- with weightage varying by program.

B.Des. program for undergraduates:

  • GAT- Computer-Based Test—30% which includes Communication- Quantitative- Logical Reasoning- General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
  • CAT- Pen-Based Test — 50% which includes tests creative skills- observation- use of color and design development.
  • Situation Test — 20% which involves model making and presentation.

B.F.Tech. undergraduate program:

  • GAT is divided into Section A- 30% and Section B- 70% covering technical or problem-solving and case-based questions.

Postgraduate programs for M. Des.- M.F.M. and M.F.Tech.

  • It is a combination of GAT- CAT and Personal Interview with weightage e.g., M.Des: GAT 30–70%- CAT 40% and Interview 30%.

GAT Structure:

  • B.Des GAT- CBT: 120 minutes approximately 100 questions — Communication[40]- Quantitative[20]- Analytical[15] and General Knowledge[25].
  • B.F.Tech GAT: 150 questions including a Case Study section.

Application Process:

  5. Download and print the confirmation page and keep extra photos and fee payment proof.
  6. Only one application per candidate is allowed- except for permitted program combinations [B.F.Tech + B.Des or M.F.M + M.Des] within the same form.

Reservation and PwD Policy—Key Points:

  • Horizontal reservation for PwD candidates with 40% or more disability across all categories.
  • The category claimed during registration is final- valid certificates in the prescribed format must be provided when requested.
  • PwD candidates undergo assessment by the NIFT Evaluation Committee to determine program suitability before seat allocation.
